MOMS Club® of La Plata, MD

Activities:

Here are some of the Activities and Committees offered by the MOMS Club of La Plata. All activities and committees are run by members of the MOMS Club. All new moms are welcome to join in on the fun. We are always looking for new moms to head up existing activities or bring new ideas to the table.

Committees:

Party Committee: Made up of 2-5 moms to help organize and arrange event time, date, food, arts-n-crafts and games for holiday parties by assisting and asking for volunteers.

Sunshine Committee: Organized by 1 or 2 of our members reaching out to all of our members to provide 4 meals to members who are moms to a new baby or in a time of sadness or sickness.

Welcoming Committee:Made of 2-3 members making contact with new members providing them with a new member's packet and a welcoming dessert.

Activities:

Arts-N-Crafts: A member hosts at her home once a month and instructs children on a variety of crafts and themes.

Book Club: The club reads one book per month and then meets to discuss the novel. The meeting is time to share thoughts on the common book and discuss other books that have been read throughout the month. This club gives moms a chance to share their love of reading with other moms.

Chick-Fil-A-Day: The chapter meets once a month at a local Chick-Fil-A for lunch. This is also a time for the kids to play after lunch.

Cooking Club: Meets at a member's house once a month with each mom assisting with bringing the ingredients to a recipe and with everyone's assistance in the kitchen making a delicious dish to share.

Family Day Out/Night Out: Family Day/Night Out is a time on the weekend for everyone, dads included, to spend some quality time together. There is a family day/night out at least once a month. Trips are planned to nearby parks, museums, festivals, or just anywhere we can all have fun and enjoy each other's company.

Field Trips: The chapter plans local trips to such places as strawberry patches, parks, Chuck E. Cheese, and fire departments to name a few.

Lunch Bunch: Meets once a month at local restaurants for a lunch with the kids.

Mini Playgroups: Broken down into smaller playgroups, these usually consist of 4-6 moms and their children. These groups meet once a month, alternating at each other's homes.

Moms Night Out: Come join other MOMS Club members for an evening of socialization.

Music-N-Movement: Let's move our bodies and learn through music and movement--and have a good time while doing it.

Park Days: Meets at local parks for a nice playdate with the kids. Park Days can be scheduled from 1-3 times per month, weather-permitting.

Read-N-Play: Meets at our local library for a story and a craft.

Scrap booking Club: Members meet once a month at a mom's house to scrapbook together.

Walking Club: Meets 1-2 times a month at a location in Waldorf or La Plata, depending on weather. This is a wonderful time to get some exercise and enjoy the company of other moms.

Others:

Newsletter Editor: In charge of updating, maintaining, and sending out the monthly newsletter and calendar to all of our members.

Website Coordinator: Designs and updates information on our website.
